Heavener male loses life in ATV accident on Friday

A Heavener male lost his life in an allterrain vehicle (ATV) accident Friday afternoon east of Heavener.

According to the report filed by LeFlore County Detachment of Troop D Trooper Matthew Dyer, James Bain, 74, from Heavener was on a private trail near 17329 Benson Lane, approximately 2.3 miles east of Heavener.

Dyer’s report said that at approximately 1:19 p.m. Friday, Bain’s ATV was going up uphill when it lost footing and rolled approximately once before coming to a complete stop. The report said Bain was pinned for an unknown amount of time.

According to Dyer’s report, Medical Examiner Christopher Cole pronounced Bain dead at the scene with trunk internal and trunk external injuries. Bain was transported from the scene by Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home.

Dyer was aided at the accident scene by Cole, Dowden-Roberts Funeral Home, the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department and the Heavener Fire Department.
