City of Poteau Planning Commission approves three projects at Monday afternoon’s meeting at City Hall

The City of Poteau Planning Commission approved three projects at its August meeting Monday afternoon at Poteau City Hall. Two of them will not need to get final approval by the Poteau City Council during its Sept. 6 meeting.

One of those two projects was approving First National Bank of McAlester to break ground on its new office building on its lot purchased at the corner of North Broadway Avenue and Hillview Parkway. The banking institution’s smaller office is currently located on South Broadway Avenue across from the SkatePark on Broadway.

The second of those two projects was to approve Whataburger to split its lot for its new restaurant at 1903 North Broadway. The back part of the lot was allowed to be split for future plans by Whataburger as it is part of its fully-owned lot that will not be needed once the restaurant gets fully up and running.

The third item approved in Monday’s meeting was to approve a resolution and recommendation to rezone property located at 701 North Paul Mathies Drive for Cloverleaf Plaza, LLC to build duplexes on the property. However, this approval will need to get final approval by the Poteau City Council when its meets at approximately 7:10 p.m. Sept. 6 at Poteau City Hall.
