County Commissioners table several items at Tuesday morning’s meeting

The LeFlore County Commissioners tabled several items during their weekly meeting Tuesday morning at the LeFlore County Court House.

For the second straight week, the board tabled purchasing any of Romaine Companies products to help sanitize the court house and other county buildings. Romaine Company Representative Stewart Mayfield said that four key items likely would be purchased by the county — three dilution pumps, hand-held sprayers, chemicals and a floor cleaner.

County Commissioner Board Chairman Craig Olive told Mayfield that no decisions have been made and everyone is still looking over things, so the board made the decision to table taking any action on purchasing any Romaine Companies products until late February.

In a request by LeFlore County Assessor Gaylon E. Freeman, the County Commissioners tabled approving the appointment of Sadie Douchette as First Deputy County Assessor. Also the board took no action on having a discussion with Freeman regarding tax liability for a leased caterpillar road grader.

The last item tabled by the board tabled taking any action with regards to approving a resolution to create and maintain a county reward fund for littering offenses collections. At a previous meeting, LeFlore County Sheriff Rodney Derryberry asked the board if he could check into seeing if there would be any overlapping issues with the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department’s “reward funds” and what would end up being created if the resolution passed. However, since Derryberry was not present at Tuesday’s meeting, the board tabled taking any action.

The Commissioners approved two different receiving and requisitioning officers. The board approved removing the retiring Joyce Piguet as the LeFlore County Detention Center’s receiving officer and replacing her with Nikki Walker. James Nelson is still the requisitioning officer.

As for the other receiving and requisitioning officers list, the board approved adding Loni Chandler as requisitioning officer and LaDonna (Donna) Jordan as receiving officer for LeFlore County Court Clerk Melba Hall.

The County Commissioners approved a resolution to dispose a printer from the District 2 highway inventory that originally purchased at A542 as well as approved a resolution to dispose what LeFlore County Clerk and Board Secretary Kelli Ford described as “tons of stuff” from her office.

The board approved a public health resolution allowing LeFlore County Treasurer April Caughern to reinvest surplus funds for January and approved the appointment of Renee Weaver as LeFlore County First Deputy Court Clerk.

The Commissioners also approved purchase orders, payroll, bonds, monthly fee reports, transfer of appropriations, blanket purchase orders and the two ongoing bridge construction projects — one a mile east of Shady Point over the Poteau River and the other one on Brazil Creek Road south of Oklahoma State Highway 31 and west of Shady Point.
