Howe untouchable at home

Howe’s teams crushed its second-round opponents in the LeFlore County Basketball Tournament at home on Tuesday.

Delt, great defense help

Lady Lions soar Getting a game-high 21 points from Raelyn Delt, very balanced scoring and great defense all proved to be the difference for the Howe Lady Lions in their 84-33 win against the Panama Ladybacks.

Maddie Ramsey’s twopointer gave Howe (11-3) a 14-2 lead with 3:56 remaining in the first quarter. Kalan Nye’s two-pointer extended the Howe lead to 22-4 with 1:24 left in the first quarter.

Howe led 22-6 at the end of the first quarter.

Ashlynn Dalton’s twopointer widened the Howe lead to 34-14 with 2:47 remaining in the second quarter. Howe led 43-19 at halftime.

Delt’s two-pointer capped a 9-0 run by the Lady Lions, which extended their lead to 52-19 with six minutes left in the third quarter.

The Lady Lions led 7525 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Lions outscored the Ladybacks 9-8 in the fourth quarter.

Behind Delt’s 21 points were Gracie Lute with 12 points. Nye with seven points, Abby Huie, Jurnee Williams and Kayley Turner all with six points, Ramsey and Shiloh Fletcher with five points, Dalton with four points, River Cogburn with three points, Jazz Harrison and Jozlyn Johnson had both had two points each.

Hailey Blair led Panama (5-8) with 13 points followed by Gabi Whiteaker with six points, Kelcee Ward with four points, Hannah Enkof with three points, Hanna Fox, Hayli Fox and Lexi Bell all with two points each and Laynee Simkins with a point.

Coggins, Lynn lead Lions to dominant win

Getting 24 points from Jensin Coggins, 15 points from Ky Lynn and great defense were all big keys for the Howe Lions in their 74-39 win against the Wister Wildcats (9-6).

Kobe Wooten’s 3-pointer gave Howe (10-4) a 9-0 lead with 6:22 remaining in the first quarter.

Lynn’s two-pointer capped am 11-0 run by Howe, which gave the Lions a 20-0 lead with 2:53 left in the first quarter.

Howe led 24-7 at the end of the first quarter.

A two-pointer by Coggins extended the Howe lead to 34-14 with left in the second quarter.

Howe led 46-20 at halftime. Lynn’s two-pointer gave the Lions a 51-25 lead with 5:25 remaining in the third quarter. The Lions led 58-32 at the end of the third quarter.

Howe outscored Wister 16-7 in the fourth quarter.

Behind Coggins and Lynn’s combined 39 points were Wooten with nine points, Braden Blake and Jaxon Remy with eight points each, Brayden Dalton with four points, Fernando Amezcua, Garrett Smith and Mason York all with two points.

C.J. Halford led Wister with 13 points followed by Riley Crane with eight points, Braxton Hall with seven points, Dartyn Meeks with six points, Hunter Taylor with four points and Ty Slone with a point.
