He was proceeded in death by his parents Paul Franklin and Edith Jewell (Strange) Lyons and infant grandson Geofferey Michael Lyons.

Jimmy is survived by his wife Donna Carter Lyons of Bokoshe. They were married on Aug, 13, 1959, in Red Oak.

Other survivors include sons David and Theresa and Jimmy Jr. of Bokoshe and Paul and Jane of Gulf Breeze, Fla., grandchildren Terri and Jerrod Willett of Morganfield, Ky., Amie and Chad Lewis of Sturgis, Ky., Nicole and Joey Garcia of Grants, N.M., Leslie and Josh Simpson of Corydon, Ky., Laura and Eric Stone of Evansville, Ind., Lynn Lyons of Morganfield, Ky., Nate and Megan Lyons of Niceville, Fla., and Isaac Lyons of Gulf Breeze, three great-granddaughters, eight great-grandsons and another great-grandchild on the way, sisters Rilla Gooch Wilcox, Sue Ryan and Frances and Ronnie Woodruff of Red Oak and brothers Richard and Barbara of Morganfield and John and Renee of Durant.

Jimmy was a dedicated Christian serving as song leader at Bokoshe First Baptist Church and living a life witnessing and helping others. No matter where he went, he never met a stranger and always tried to leave a positive impression on how to treat others.

He loved to fish, hunt and tell stories about the good ol’ days.

He was a proud retired Peabody coal miner. He put God and his family first in all things. He worked hard to make things as easy as possible for everyone. He will be missed greatly but we all know that he has a better place to go fishing today as he waits for the rest of us to join him in that beautiful place prepared for us if we only chose and believe in our most precious Heavenly Father.
