Public Works Authority, City Council to have budget hearing, special meetings Monday night

The Poteau Public Works Authority and the Poteau City Council will have a budget hearing and special meetings beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Poteau City Hall.

The two boards will jointly meet at 5:30 p.m. for a public hearing regarding the 2021-22 budget.

Once that meeting has concluded at approximately 5:45 p.m., the Public Works Authority will meet to approve the budget.

At approximately 6 p.m., the City Council will meet to approve the budget as well as approve the water rate increased, which is stemming from the decision the Poteau salley Improvement Authority board made at its June 1 meeting from $1.50 per thousand gallons of water used to $1.60.

At Monday night’s Public Works Authority Meeting, the board approved a baserate hike from $11.80 per 2,000 gallons of water used to $13.90, which will make the minimum water bill per household at $40.
