Personnel matters on Poteau School board meeting agenda for Monday

Several personnel matters will be on the agenda for the Poteau Public School Board of Education to discuss during its June meeting at 6 p.m. Monday at the Bert Corr Administrative Building.

thile there is a scheduled executive session to further discuss the personnel matters as well as discuss about the purchase of real estate, the board will look to approve the retirements of Poteau assistant football/head baseball coach Andy Perdue, assistant basketball/soccer coach Kyle Hardaway, high school counselor Cindy tillis and paraprofessional Sharon Hickman, the resignations of teachers Angela Jordan and Ryan Barrett and the employment of teacher/coach Payton terner, Poteau Primary Elementary School teachers Raelynn Myers, Kayla Gregory, McKenna Covey, Ashlea Carnell and Katherine Morris, district payroll clerk Sherry Stacy, high school teacher Karla Cook and paraprofessional Lillian Carter.

In his report, Poteau Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Don Sjoberg will ask the board to approve a special board meeting at noon June 30 for the fiscal year close-out activities as well as talk about the district’s Johnson O’Malley (JOM) recognition.

The board will look to approve worker’s compensation insurance for the 202122 school year, a resolution for the district insurance coverage, a construction contract for the vocational-agriculture building repair due to the fire earlier this year, the open transfer requests, the Poteau School Board Policy/Site Handbook updates and the activity fundraisers for the 2021-22 school year, contracts with Career Tech for transportation, Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center for telemedicine and school resource officers and the reopening guidelines for the 2021-22 school year.

It is expected that Board President Ron Hall will appoint a committee to start the process of naming school facilities.

Poteau Public Schools Chief Financial Officer Vallerie Martin will give her financial reports and encumbrances.
